The BOSCH damping foil is required to decouple the drive unit / motor from the eBike frame. If the motor with its aluminium housing is connected directly to the aluminium frame of the eBike without the damping foil, a "cracking/crunching/squeaking" occurs at the screw connection.
(aluminium rubs under the high pressure of the screw connection)
